"THE IMPORTANT ROLE OF LOADING AND UNLOADING COMPANIES IN THE DISTRIBUTION OF COAL IN VESSEL" - The rise of coal mining in Borneo Indonesia or in other areas is currently one of the most influential commodity effects on the contribution to the State Foreign Exchange. Although it can not be denied that the impacts arising or resulting in the practice of coal mining is also directly proportional to its harm to the environment, ecosystem and soil structure. But this is the fact that this natural product is an exclusive commodity for some people who are involved in their business either individually, the Company or the State (Foreign Exchange). No wonder that this coal can be categorized as the toughest rival of the gold commodity so given the title of "Black Gold"





But do you know that in terms of coal distribution process is actually a lot of things that play an important role in the distribution from upstream to downstream?

Here's a little I describe the diagram or flow chat distribution of coal from upstream to downstream:


Mine Coal (Coal) -----> Car / Traffic Transport (Hauling) -----> Harbor (Stockfile) -----> Barge / Tagboat (Transhipment) -------> Vessel ( Shipping) ------> Place / Destination Country (Consumer).


In the Flow Chat the position of the loading and unloading company (PBM) or better known as Stevedoring is located at the point (Port) and (Vessel), but at the port point is usually rarely use Stevedoring because coal mine owners prefer to directly load the coal from a freight car into a barge using a Conveyor tool that has been established / built by a mine or a partner on the edge of a river or sea, because it is more efficient, economical and inexpensive, in this case if mining for a longer period in permit exploration and production (usually large companies).

While mining only within a period of only a few years permit exploration and production that is more pleased to be manual that is by way of direct transport car into the barge to dismantle the coal.

So what we are talking about here is actually Stevedoring at the point of Vessel, according to the title "The Important Role of Stevedoring Companies in Coal Distribution on Vessel Ships."

Before further explained the role of Loading and Unloading Company, may be explained in advance what is a loading and unloading Company?

Loading and unloading Company is a company having legal status which has a principal activity in the process of moving / unloading goods or goods either from or to the ship, dock or warehouse.

Loading and Unloading Company itself has 3 (Three) Sub Division of activity in its business namely:

1. Stevedoring is the activity of dismantling goods from and to the ship by using mechanical and non- mechanical tools supported by the existence of labor and supporting modes of transportation.

2. Cargodoring is the activity of issuing cargo or goods from the dock to the field or storage warehouse and vice versa.

3. Receiving / Delivery is loading of goods from Warehouse / Field into Car Transport / Truck to be delivered or sent to ship / Shipper.

From a brief explanation of the above loading and unloading Company, it can be categorized that the work of dismantling coal from barges to be loaded by Vessel's vessel is part of Sub Division of Bongkar Muat business activity called Stevedoring.

So you can imagine how the role of Loading and unloading Company which is responsible in the distribution of coal from upstream to downstream as described above.

Because without the unloading company it is clear that in this case the distribution of coal will be hampered or disturbed so that the impact also in the end either to the miner / owner of the stone, the final Consumer as well as to the state income.

In this case the loading and unloading Company has been regulated in the latest Minister of Transportation Regulation, namely: PM 152 of 2016 on the Implementation and Expansion of Loading and Shipment of Goods From And To Ship. Also as a substitute of the previous Minister of Transportation Regulation PM 60 Year 2014 and PM 93 Year 2015.
